Epik High’s Tablo revealed that he has a habit of recording while half-naked. On KBS 2TV Star Golden Bell that aired May 10, Tablo said, “I have a habit of taking nearly all my clothes off while recording.” So what does he not take off?
Tablo explained that while rapping, he moves around a lot and his clothes make a lot of rustling noises. Thus, to prevent background distortions he started stripping … (just imagine that shirt slipping off his shoulders).
In addition, Epik High members feel comfortable being naked in the studio when they are together. However; ocassionally, a few food delivery men (probably delivering the ubiquitous jjajangmyun -black bean noodles) get a shock when they see them in the studio without any clothes on.
Tablo also revealed that when he’s too lonely, he goes to Mithra Jin’s room and sleeps, saying ” It feels nice to hug and snuggle up to Mithra because he’s soft.” Right, because Mithra is Tablo’s giant teddy bear!
Regardless of their eccentric ways, Epik High makes some awesome music.
In fact, Epik High finally snagged the Mutizen Song Award for SBS Inkigayo on May 11. They made their first successful attempt to overcome fierce competition and block MC Mong’s grand slam on various music charts with their hit title song, “One.” So far MC Mong has thrown all the music shows into a circus, winning 3 mutizen awards already - 2 from KBS Music Bank and another from MBC Music Core.
However, Epik High has always ranked 1st in album sales so they must be happy because they’re making lots of money.
Last, but not least, Tablo transforms into a ‘Batman Waiter’ in SBS Change!
So you’re probably wondering what a ‘Batman Waiter’ is…me too.
Anyway, Tablo guest starred on SBS Change to show his love for his parents, disguising as a waiter at a fancy restaurant. He felt that if he disguised himself as someone else, he would be less shy towards his parents and be able to show his true emotions.
He planned out a special project to thank his parents, who have worked all their lives for their kids. Tablo also got help from his brother, Dave, who graduated from an IVY-league, for the surprise. (His family has some smart genes.)
Are you still wondering why Tablo is the ‘Batman Waiter’? Well, here comes the explanation. So while the Tablo was serving his parents, Dave threw out a dangerous question, “Doesn’t the waiter look like Tablo?” At that moment, Tablo’s mom looked at the waiter (her son) and said, “He looks like Batman!” Luckily, his parents were not able to recognize him until the end.
Tablo and his parents also went up on stage and danced to ‘Love Twist’.
